El ámbito incluye cualquier obra impresa en México, Centroamerica, Sudamerica, las Filipinas o en ciertas partes del Caribe y de los Estados Unidos a partir de la primera impression en América (aproximadamente 1539) hasta llegar a e incluyendo 1900.
Para estados de Estados Unidos (hasta obtención de categoría de estado oficial o 1900) y países del Caribe el ámbito está limitado a impresiones en el idioma español. Artículos manuscritos y todo aquello impreso en España y en Portugal están fuera de ámbito.

Anything printed in Mexico, Central America, South America, the Philippines or selected parts of the Caribbean and the United States from the first printing in America (about 1539) up through and including 1900. For the U.S. states (up to statehood or 1900) and Caribbean countries the scope is limited to Spanish-language imprints. Manuscript items and anything printed in Spain or Portugal are out of scope.
